It was about time that the cowboy profession was recognized worthy as others. Every profession worthy of execution deserves respect … different skills and agility but washing us to the same level!

Mr Rigo Teles (PV) occupied the tribune of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday (23) to highlight that the Senate approved on Tuesday (24), the bill of former Members Edigar White Hand and Edson Duarte, that recognizes and regulates the cowboy profession. The project defined the cowboy as a professional responsible for the treatment, handling and driving animals such as cattle, buffalo, horses, mules, goats and sheep.

After the proven in the House and Senate, the project followed for sanction of President Dilma Roussef (PT). The project provides that the contracting of services cowboy is administrator’s responsibility – owner or not – the agricultural establishment of operating large and medium-sized animals, dairy farming, cutting and creation.
The MP said that now the Cowboys will be entitled to life insurance and accidents in service or employment contracts that include compensation for death or permanent disability. The Cowboys also have the reimbursement of medical and hospital expenses resulting from accidents or diseases suffered in the working day.
For Rigo Teles, the decision of the Senate, although late, he came to recognize the importance of the cowboy, a brave cowboy who suffers in caatingas and hinterlands to work for the benefit of all Brazilians. Deputy recalls that until then was not cowboy profession, as they arrived in old age with no prospect of retiring to continue keeping their families.
In evaluating Rigo, despite being “the face of the Brazilian Northeast, the cowboy was only a shadow, because he was not entitled to constitutional benefits provided to other workers. Teles notes that from now, the Cowboys will be entitled to a formal contract and other benefits of the Federal Government, such as Bolsa Família and Food Grant.

In the statement, Rigo Teles said that the regulation of cowboy profession is just the first step in a larger project that the parliamentary advocates in the Legislative Asembleia, and with the senators and deputies in the Senate and in the House: the regulation of vaquejada in Maranhao and in Brazil.
According to Rigo, the vaquejada is a sport that is present in the Northeast and throughout Brazil, mainly in the city of Barretos, São Paulo, and in the State of Rio de Janeiro. “We will fight to consolidate the regulation of the cowboy profession and institute vaquejada as a national sport,” he promised.
